HERITAGE CONSULTANT

Katherine assists the team, facilitating reports and consultation with background research, field survey, excavation and artefact cataloguing. Through her university Honours she has experience with spatial analysis, archival research, built survey and artefact recording.

Katherine received the Artefact Purpose Award in 2025, recognised by her colleagues for her activism and commitment to making a positive difference through Artefact's activism initiative.

Katherine studied Archaeology and Ancient History at university and has also had the opportunity to work in museums; as a collections officer and as part of education teams. Getting to be a part of researching and sharing history has been a great privilege for her.

“My artefact is a glass bottle from the Ponds Extract Company found in Manly NSW. This type of historical bottle is honestly a dime a dozen, it isn’t particularly unique, but I love how simple pieces like this can connect to both individuals; their needs, and consumptions as well as indicate wider themes of technological innovation, production and economies. There is always so much to learn when you trace the history of even the simplest artefacts. There are so many people’s histories connected to one item.”
