Artefact was established in 2010 by Dr Sandra Wallace, who remains the company’s Managing Director.

Artefact’s team members are highly qualified and experienced heritage professionals, providing specialist services to guide your decision making.
We offer expertise in delivering high-level advice on design, assessment and compliance. Artefact regularly advise Tier 1 contractors and government agencies on projects with highly complex approval pathways, we are the go-to consultancy for challenging approvals. The key to accurate advice is our excellent relationships with regulators, depth of knowledge of the relevant legislation and extensive experience across a variety of project scenarios.
Senior team members recently co-authored the Transport for NSW Heritage Management Framework for the Circular Quay Renewal Project. We also provided information for updating the Western Sydney Airport Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management Plan. Our staff have served on the NSW Aboriginal Culture and Heritage Reform Working Party, and contributed expert advice on amendments to the NSW Excavation Director criteria.
