ACCURATE, TIMELY HISTORICAL ARCHAEOLOGY
Artefact is a leader in historical (non-Aboriginal) archaeology across NSW.
Our experience in successfully managing archaeological sites includes numerous complex and large-scale surveys and excavations. Among the most challenging was the former Devonshire Street Cemetery at Sydney’s Central Railway Station, excavated as part of the $20 billion Sydney Metro Program. Working within a constricted site at the heart of the state’s busiest rail network, Artefact provided technical resources and problem-solving skills to ensure that this sensitive excavation did not impede progress of critical construction work.
Artefact has also managed sensitive archaeological sites across areas of state, national and world heritage significance, such as the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and the Governor’s Domain at Parramatta. Our team has operated extensively under State Significant Infrastructure and State Significant Development approvals, including the CBD & South East Light Rail. Time and again, our responsive advice and services helped keep these network-critical developments on track.
Working within your program, our team offers expertise in both up front assessment of archaeology and fieldwork to manage archaeological remains, including:
