I am an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Officer here at Artefact Heritage.
My background is in administration, and I am now an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Officer. I have had the privilege to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Sydney in grassroot level organisations through to government agencies. One aspect in my role at Artefact that I really enjoy is when I get to assist in the consultation process with the various Registered Aboriginal Parties who are involved in the projects we manage.
I am holding a digging stick. This object reminds me of how special it is, as a First Nations woman, to work where I do. To the untrained eye a rock is just a rock, whereas the Heritage Consultants look for an impact point, from this they can learn more about the country it was found on, the people, and the rich history.
