Sacred architecture

The project

Artefact has specialised expertise in preserving 19th-century Sydney churches. We have extensive experience in delivering expert heritage advice, dilapidation reports, cyclical maintenance guidelines, Conservation Management Plans (CMP), and Statements of Heritage Impacts (SoHI).

We are also deeply experienced with major estate masterplans, having provided Conservation Management Plans and adaptive reuse advice for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney at St Patricks Estate in Manly, as well as heritage services for Tempe House, Wolli Creek, and St Pauls College at the University of Sydney.

Projects span from repairing the monumental stone flying buttresses of St Marys Cathedral to advising on the delicate repainting of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Waterloo.

Our extensive portfolio of sacred architecture includes ongoing work at St George Presbyterian Church on Castlereagh Street and past restorations and repairs at Paddington Uniting Church; St James Catholic Church in Glebe, and St Bede’s Pyrmont.
