Providing multi-disciplinary heritage services across NSW/ACT

With offices in Sydney, the Central West and Hunter regions, our leading heritage experts provide a full range of services across Sydney, the ACT and regional NSW.

Sydney

Our head office is located on the historic wharves of Pyrmont (wharf 10) above the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (where history is recorded everyday!)

Hunter region

Artefact has provided expert heritage and environmental advice to clients in the Hunter region from our Newcastle office since 2017.

We're proud to have played a key role in Newcastle's rejuvenation from an industrial city to one with modern business hubs, improved commuter rail infrastructure and a focus on new commercial and residential development.

Central West region

With a regional office in Bathurst, Artefact has a deep understanding of the unique history of NSW’s Central West region which sits on the traditional lands of the Wiradyuri people.

We work closely with Local Aboriginal Land Councils, Community representatives, Registered Aboriginal Parties, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders.  Artefact also provides a practical heritage careers training program partnership with the Wiradyuri Traditional Owners Central West Aboriginal Corporation.

Meet the team

Two women standing outdoors in front of a historic building with a clock tower. The woman on the left has long blonde hair and is wearing a dark blue shirt with a star and moon pattern. The woman on the right has reddish hair tied back and is wearing a white shirt with small print and beige pants.

Our Newcastle office is headed by Technical Director and archaeologist Jenny Winnett (pictured right with Managing Director Sandra Wallace). Jenny has worked on major heritage projects in the area including Newcastle Light Rail, The Store, Newcastle Interchange, Belmont TAFE, and the Richmond Vale Rail Trail.

Our in-house historian Dr Stephen Gapps has strong connections to Wiradyuri people through the publication of his book 'Gudyarra – The First Wiradyuri War of Resistance, The Bathurst War 1822-1824'.

When you work with Artefact, you’ll also have the benefit of our broader multi-disciplinary team of 60 in-house heritage experts to work on your project.
