WORLD-LEADING EXPERTISE

GEOMORPHOLOGY

Having an understanding of the topographic features and landform evolution of a site can be a valuable addition to a project, particularly where greenfield development might occur.

When you work with us you’ll have access to world-leading expert Tony Barham – Artefact’s in-house Geomorphologist.

Our offer

Our Geomorphology and Geoarchaeology specialists work closely with the broader Artefact teams providing a range of services. This is particularly important when it comes to Aboriginal Archaeology work and Cultural landscape mapping with Aboriginal communities.

Specifics include:

  • Landform interpretation during archaeological survey and excavation to identify contexts and places with archaeological potential, high significance or community narrative values.
  • Deposit modelling using geotechnical data to assess subsurface development impacts.
  • On-site archaeological recording to archive site formation and past habitats.
  • Narrative summaries of the geomorphology of a site, for stakeholders and public display.
  • Detailed scientific investigations, including dating, placing Heritage sites in the settings that existed in the past, and as evidence of past climates and ecologies.
  • Using archaeological site stratigraphy to guide wetland restoration and re-wild habitats in development planning.

In addition, Tony plays a key role in mentoring and up-skilling Artefact team members.
