OUR RECONCILIATION

 FOCUS

Artefact is committed to an honest and heartfelt process of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all other Australians. One of our Purpose commitments is to be guided by our First Nations communities which has resulted in support for the Dhuluny Conference, volunteering at Indigigrow, our Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Officer program, and development of an Aboriginal site officer training program. ENGAGEMENT AND CONSULTATION

WORKING WITH ABORIGINAL COMMUNITIES

Artefact works directly with First Nations communities across multiple areas of our practice. Adopting a culturally informed approach, we work every day to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are consulted and involved in the work of managing heritage and environment across the projects in which we are engaged. At Artefact we are committed to actively realising reconciliation through delivering enactment of the Connecting with Country framework, facilitating consultation with First Nations communities; identifying and working with appropriate artists for heritage interpretation; assessing cultural values generally, and providing training such as cultural sensitivity training.

SUPPORTING ABORIGINAL ARTISTS

SUPPORTING ABORIGINAL ARTISTS

Every day when we walk in the office we are struck by the powerful office artworks: Pirrama and Be The Change painted by Barkindji artist Maddison Gibbs. Maddison’s murals on our walls are an important everyday reminder of the traditional custodians of the lands (bamal) and waters (badu) on which we work. See more of Maddison's work on her instagram site
