Artefact was established in 2010 by Dr Sandra Wallace, who remains the company’s Managing Director.

I have more than 20 years practical experience and knowledge in the many facets of environmental assessment, planning and management. This is from my mechanical tradesperson career beginnings... of too many decades ago!
Recently I was responsible for lineal electricity infrastructure development, assessment, and approval. We worked closely with electricity network planners and designers, as well as the community and numerous other stakeholders to develop, assess and approve multiple electricity network infrastructure projects.
I’m acutely aware the critical role that effective community and stakeholder engagement and consultation plays in successful and timely planning, assessment and approval. Fortunately, consultation is an aspect of environmental assessment and planning that I enjoy.
I maintain a keen interest in the energy transition and its implications for the community and society broadly. In my previous role, amongst other pursuits, I was enthusiastically involved in developing stand-alone power system (SAPS) [in lieu of inefficient and impractical traditional network development options], and pushing vehicle fleet electrification. I intend to continue these interests with Artefact.
