Jonny

At Artefact, I am a Heritage Consultant in the Historical Archaeology team.

I specialise in archaeological research, fieldwork excavation, artefact interpretation, and report writing. Previously I worked internationally as a supervisor for the site of Khirbet al-Ra‘i, Israel. In addition, I have domestic archaeology experience on both historical and Aboriginal projects. I love engaging with history, connecting the past to the present and bringing to life the stories and lessons that they tell.

ABOUT

JONNY

The love I have for heritage and the past was discovered in my early 20s when I solo backpacked around Israel. Here, I learnt about the mysterious nature of history and the lessons that connecting the past to the present can teach. Time passed, and I enrolled at Macquarie University for a degree in Archaeology. This degree provided me the opportunity to return to Israel where I worked on the iconic site of Khirbet al-Ra‘i – a site known in Hebrew literature for its association with King David. After completing my degree, I continued at Macquarie with a Master of Research thesis where I examined and stratigraphically reconstructed ceramic assemblages from this site.

MY ARTEFACT

My Journal is a material reminder for me to stay grounded, present, and thankful. History teaches that life is a gift, so remember to practice gratitude and appreciate each moment.
